We had a dream of creating a school like no other…

My Montessori School is a Montessori nursery for children between ages 2 to 5, located in the heart of Brook Green in West London.

Our conscious individualised approach integrates the physical, social and emotional development of our children.

The teaching method is based on the Montessori educational approach and on developing a growth mindset. It is complemented by visual arts, dance, yoga, world music, gymnastics and health education.

The children in our school build self-esteem, confidence, independence, resilience and social skills that help them integrate better in their community and make a smooth transition to primary school.

Our Montessori curriculum is taught by Accredited Montessori Teachers.

With great integrity and love we co-create a world where each of our children can flourish and fulfil their potential.

In our day-to-day work, we are guided by our core values.

Deep Respect

We respect our children, teachers, parents and community. We embrace each child’s unique talents and honour their diverse life and learning styles. We recognise them as individual personalities and create an environment that caters to their natural curiosities.

We do not label children, we are attentive to others and considerate of their rights and feelings. We celebrate the richness of diversity and identity.

Excellence

We commit to excellence in everything we do – from delivering an enriched curriculum, hiring exceptional teachers, and designing a beautiful class environment, to developing an open and trusting relationship with our families.

We want to raise the standards across the nursery industry, and we commit to provide not just a great service, but an outstanding one.

Growth

We nurture the growth and well-being of our children and teachers. We provide an environment that encourages love for learning, personal growth and intellectual curiosity. We value our children’s creativity, work and feelings and we help them develop confidence, independence and high self-esteem.

We are committed to a continuous learning and support our staff in their growth.

Love

Love is all that is. We are all connected to everyone and everything. All our actions and ways that we choose to respond to any situation are guided by love. Love for one another that builds friendships and positive relationships. Love for the children’s uniqueness, personality, mind and soul. Love for witnessing their joy of freely expressing who they really are. Love to express ourselves; it encourages us to be creative and to speak our minds. It is love and care for the environment and nature that remains one of our biggest responsibilities.

When LOVE is guiding us, all the answers to any situation that arises come clear to us.It is our jobs as practitioners to translate this love into supporting our children to grow and build upon their concentration and natural curiosity.

‘Of all things, love is most potent’, Maria Montessori

Our Montessori Practitioners are committed and passionate learners. They are all trained and certified Montessori experts and they are focused on thoughtful observation and gentle guidance to each child.

Our team is caring, heart-centred and growth orientated. They are respectful to each individual journey and foster self-directed learning. In the core of our work is providing nurturing and inspiring environment for our children.

What brings us all together?

Natural & Inspiring Environment

Premises

Our space is vast, full of light and airy. The high ceilings and the beautiful architecture create unique atmosphere that imparts feeling of openness and spaciousness. We created an attractive and aesthetic classroom for the children that supports each child’s release of potential. The room is divided into curriculum areas and included a wonderful book corner, art area, role-play area and snack area. Everything is in order and arranged beautifully, invoking a feeling of calm, harmony and peace. The children are given the freedom to act impulsively, to explore freely and to choose  what to engage with throughout the day.

The outside space consists of a patio which we set up daily with various activities. The children bike, jump, converse and engage in planting and gardening. For our gymnastic classes and music and dance lessons, we use the bigger hall downstairs.

Furniture & Activities

The Montessori learning environment is designed with the child in mind. Furniture and décor are appropriate in size and level, the activities are made of natural materials and appeal to the child aesthetically. Children’s learning is supported through a variety of specially developed materials and activities, designed to help the child learn and master difficult concepts.

Maria Montessori put a great deal of thinking into building the environment in a way that support the expression of the human tendencies and the sensitive periods that a child goes through during their early years. The design and flow create a learning environment that accommodates choice. It was established upon one fundamental base – ’the liberty of the pupils in their spontaneous manifestations’ (Montessori, 2012). The furniture is light and easily transported and permit the child to select the position they find most comfortable. The furniture and the materials develop the gross and the fine motor skills of the child and encourage purposeful activity. The environment allows the child free movement and a self-correction if he ‘upsets a chair’ and thus, is teaching children to learn to command their own movements, to move with grace and discernment, giving them useful skill for life.

Food

Mealtime time is joyful and sharing food with friends is often one of the most favourite activities among our children. We deeply care about fostering healthy lifestyle habits in children and we carefully prepare the environment, to create calm, enjoyable time for snack and lunch. Our breakfast for the breakfast club consist of bread and organic butter, organic yoghurt and organic berries. We provide snack through the day, that is also organic, fresh and healthy. Our children cook once a week a delicious, tasty recipe with seasonal produce. Our water is filtered and we are considerate to all allergies.

Lunch is home-made and brought by our children, free of sugar and nuts. We share it together, promoting a sense of belonging within the group. Children love sitting around a table that allows them to see and interact with each other.
